Boys!

Today in Bible class we were studying the armor of God. Our theme for the week has been that Jesus has power over our enemies. So, we were going over the different pieces of armor, and one of my students raises his hand and says "but Miss Chaplin, you didn't put on the goofy shirt and the silly hat and the frilly flippers." (My drawings on the board must not have been so good!) I explained that he was right, they are not physical things we put on, that God has given us a picture of His protection for us and that we needed to spiritually put these things on each day. As the discussion progressed I mentioned that most of the armor is defensive. Of course, with a class of 15 boys and only 4 girls, there was some argument of this point. First, one student said that that the belt could be used as a weapon, you could take it off, swing it around, and hit someone with it. Then another boy piped in and said that the shield could also be a weapon, you could hit someone over the head with it! So much for them getting the point!
